Google Adsense: The "Do"s
You've probably heard that Google Adsense is one of the most reliable and cost effective ways of monetising your website, allowing you to earn revenue through pay-per-click (PPC) advertising. All you need to do is sign up for an account, agree to the terms and conditions, and then obtain an HTML/Javascript code to insert on to your website. When someone clicks the advert that code generates, you earn a small fee. It's that simple; anyone can do it, and that's why Adsense has gained such a stellar reputation in the PPC world. Yet what if you've done all that, got the code installed and the advert is displaying properly... yet you're not making any money? Here's a quick guide to getting the most out of Google Adsense: - Place the adverts in easy-to-see places. Your ads need to be obvious, easy to see and easy to read - so choose colours that compliment the design of your website, and are visible. Ad blocks should be spaced evenly throughout your website, and should look part of the design rather than an addition. - Drive traffic to your site. You need people to click on those ads, so it's time to do a little search engine optimisation and other marketing. Essentially, the more people you bring to your site, the more people you will have to target with your well co-ordinated ads as established above. - Do abide by the Google terms and conditions. If Google senses any unusual activity on your account (such as click fraud) they will ban your account, and any funds in the account will be removed. Don't let it happen; read the terms and conditions thoroughly, and stick to them religiously.
