Is This Good Enough To Sell?

Home brewing always starts as a hobby – the results of your brew will be drunk by you and perhaps a few friends and family. If they like it, it will be more in demand and you will probably make more. It is at that point that you might start to think about making a little money off your home brew. This is something that you could actively consider doing, but it is important to make sure that you do things the correct way before you go to those lengths.

For a start, the process of brewing beer is a long-winded one. Depending on how big your operation is, you may be able to make more or less beer – if you only have the space to make and mature twenty-four bottles a month then that is not commercially viable. However, if you have the space and the equipment you may well be able to make enough to begin selling it. Bear in mind though that to do this you will need to have a licence.

The fact is, though, that many people with little more than a basic set-up do brew and sell their own beer. As long as you go through the correct legal processes and enforce the right safety standards, you can make and sell your own brew of beer, and if you do well you can expand. If some monks in Belgium can do it, why not you? It has to be worth a try, doesn't it?
