The Advantages of Plasma Televisions Over LCD Televisions

If you are looking to buy a new television set, you may be wondering what the difference is between plasma and LCD televisions - the two different technologies competing to be number one in the market. The differences, to the untrained eye, are minimal. The picture quality is largely the same, and the difference in cost is fairly negligible. To help you decide, here's a quick look at the advantages of plasma TVs over their LCD counterparts:

- Colour quality. Plasma screens have a better capacity to show deep blacks, and other colours will also be slightly more vivid. If you watch a lot of films, this can make a big difference, so is something to take into consideration.

- Screen size. Plasma televisions, due to their slight technological differences from LCDs, tend to be available in larger screen sizes. If you are looking for the TV to end all TVs, a huge behemoth monster to dominate not so much a cabinet but an entire wall, then plasma screens will be larger - and therefore more suitable to your needs.

- Better motion tracking. This is well worth considering if you watch a lot of sports, such as baseball or tennis, where a small ball will be flying through the air. Plasma television screens offer vastly improved motion tracking compared to conventional televisions, and there is a slight improvement on what an LCD screen can offer.

That said, LCD and plasma screens really are not that different - it just depends on your specific needs, and even with the above needs one would still find an LCD television perfectly suitable. Go with your budget and style desires first and foremost.
