Why Is No-One Following Me?
If there is one thing that new Twitter users find more annoying than being unfollowed, it is when no-one actually follows them to start with. As with any participatory pursuit, Twitter is undoubtedly more enjoyable if you have more interaction when using it. Being short of followers, then, may be considered a little bit disconcerting. If you are wondering why it is happening, there may be some reasons you hadn’t considered.
People won’t follow you if you ask out loud why no-one is following you. It makes you seem as though you are given to whine about small things, and also underlines the fact that people are not following you. If other people are making that decision, it lends weight to anyone considering whether or not to follow you.
If your Twitter feed is excessively self-pitying, or judged to be so by a reader, then they will not follow it. it may seem cold and harsh, but people do not want to read an endless list of complaints about things which, to be blunt, do not affect them directly. If life is hard, but you approach it with a sense of humor, people will be more likely to follow you.
If the words that you use are not your own, then people will not follow you. Re-tweets are just part of this. Song lyrics, endless quotes regardless of the source, and comedy catch phrases are also best avoided. Every once in a while, fine, but why would people follow someone who endlessly quotes from elsewhere when they can read it anywhere else?
